Brandon started as the Associate Director with CYCA in August 2017. He first entered the Corps world in 2010 as a Corpsmember with AmeriCorps NCCC in Denver. He joined the NCCC Wildland Fire Crew and helped fight fires across all of Colorado. After falling in love with service and land conservation, and the state of Colorado, Brandon stuck around Denver and enrolled in a second term of service with an AmeriCorps State program housed at Denver Human Services. After his second term, Brandon joined a nonprofit called Playworks as a Program Manager where he oversaw 12 AmeriCorps members serving 1700-hour terms supporting low-income elementary schools around Metro Denver.
When Brandon heard about the opening at CYCA, he knew this was the perfect opportunity to continue his work in the land conservation sector and follow his true passion of helping young adults serve their communities. At CYCA, Brandon has 3 main priority areas. First, he manages several strategic partnerships with major land agencies in Colorado. These include Great Outdoors Colorado, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, and the Colorado Water Conservation Board. Second, Brandon spearheads the Careers in Natural Resources Initiative. This includes leading direct trainings to corpsmembers and local communities on a variety of career-readiness tools. Lastly, Brandon supports the AmeriCorps and Contracts Manager to oversee two multi-million dollar AmeriCorps grants through Serve Colorado, including the new Colorado Climate Corps.
Brandon is an alum from Metropolitan State University of Denver where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BA in Psychology. Originally from Ohio, Brandon loves cheering on his Ohio State Buckeyes and Cincinnati Bengals, although sometimes it can be quite painful. Brandon is a new dad and loves absolutely every minute spent with his son, Kyan. Lastly, Brandon loves exploring all Colorado has to offer with his wife, Kelsey. They met in AmeriCorps NCCC in 2010 and both fell in love with Colorado. They love hiking, camping, spending time with Ky, and watching football.
